Our History

Cobb Pregnancy Services began in 1985 when a small group of concerned citizens, dismayed at the number of women seeking abortions, sought to provide a place to share abortion alternatives.

Historical Ministry Highlights

1985     CPS founded in Georgia as Abovo Crisis Pregnancy Center, Inc.

1990     Began presenting abstinence education in public schools, churches and to other youth groups

1993     Began offering post-abortion healing classes

1994     Moved out of multi-office building to its own location

1997     Began offering ultrasounds – the FIRST pregnancy center in the state to do so

1999     Added prenatal classes to support women in their decision not to abort

2001     Moved to current location and the number of women served rose from approximately 35/month to 200/month

2002     Proportion of abortion-minded women that chose life after coming to CPS rose to 91%

2002     Hired a Hispanic coordinator and trained Spanish-speaking women to reach the Hispanic community

2003     Established an abstinence education team to present sexual purity to youth in the public and private sector as a prevention strategy

2004     Added mentoring program and additional classes; women could earn assistance with baby items by completing classes

2005     Number of women provided free pregnancy tests rose to over 3,000 a year

2008     Began providing post-abortion healing retreats, offered to CPS clients and women in local churches; received a replacement ultrasound machine  from Focus on the Family Option Ultrasound

2010     Number of volunteers rose to over 110 (from 25 in 1997)

2011      Began searching for a larger facility

2012      Established a long-term vision of a medical facility that would draw more abortion-minded women.

2013      Number of volunteers rose to over 140.

2015      Began providing STD testing and treatment.

2016     Purchased new 10,000 square foot building and began renovations. Volunteer base rose to 175.

2017     First year in new building. Added CPS Friends app to encourage supporters to pray for abortion-minded women in real time. Added more client classes and counseling to men.

2018.   Became AAAHC accredited.
